Dr. William Marscher

Born and raised in the Lowcountry, Dr. Marscher is excited about building a practice focused on helping the pets and people who live in the communities where he grew up. After finishing his undergraduate degree at Clemson, he moved to Charleston to complete his MBA at the Citadel before going on to receive his DVM at the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Marscher then completed a post graduate training program at Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston, and continued practicing in New England until returning to Charleston. Since moving back, he has practiced emergency medicine in the Charleston community and has continued to develop his skills and acumen in the field. Dr. Marscher enjoys communicating with owners to design tailored plans for pets that make sense for both the pet and their family. His focus on client education helps ensure you understand what is happening and why it is happening. At PawMed, we think communication is the most important part of getting your pets the care they need, when they need it.

Dr. Krista DeRespino

Dr. DeRespino has wanted to be an animal doctor since she was wrapping toilet-paper bandages around her very patient pets at the age of 5. She grew up in a big family with lots of pets in Bradenton on the Florida gulf coast. She attended the University of Florida where she earned a Bachelors in Zoology as well as a Masters of Agriculture studying dairy cattle. She worked in various aspects of veterinary medicine - from a kennel attendant at a shelter to a cardiology technician at a specialty hospital - throughout her time studying and was able to develop a strong sense of the important role everyone has to play in helping sick and injured animals. She attended veterinary school, also at the University of Florida, and then decided to change coasts and for a year-long rotating internship in Los Angeles, California at Animal Specialty and Emergency Center (ASEC). ASEC was a large, specialty hospital in the heart of West LA with a busy ER as well as well-developed surgery, internal medicine, radiology, cardiology, oncology and critical care practices. This rigorous training provided exposure to a large variety of cases as well as support and feedback from boarded specialists. It was here that she truly developed a respect for how much collaborative teamwork can improve the outcome of a case and benefit everyone involved - patients, owners and doctors alike. Since that time, she has worked at busy emergency hospitals in Greenville, SC and, for the last 5 years, here in Charleston. She loves the variety and pace of emergency medicine and continues to be impressed day after day at our pets abilities to not just heal and recover, but enhance our lives as well. In her free time she is passionate about travel and can feel her passport is woefully overdue for some stamps. She has also appreciated that all the recent time at home has allowed her to enjoy her two older dogs, Mochi and Nugget, in their golden years.

Dr. Conrad has worked in stand alone emergency clinics, referral hospitals, and as a travelling locum veterinarian since her internship. She is also a certified veterinary acupuncturist, veterinary food therapist, and is working towards a masters in traditional Chinese veterinary medicine from the Chi University. She found urgent care to be an exciting new opportunity to practice and explore in veterinary medicine. Outside of work, Dr. Conrad and her husband love to travel abroad, spend time at the local beaches, and perform with the local Star Wars costuming club, the Carolina Garrison of the 501st Legion. Dr. Kaitlyn Thomas

Since childhood, Dr. Thomas harbored dreams of becoming a veterinarian, inspired by her early experiences raising goats and pigs on the family farm in Nevada. These formative years instilled a deep respect for animals and a profound understanding of the importance of compassionate care.

After completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Nevada, Dr. Thomas pursued her passion for veterinary medicine at Colorado State University. After graduation, she began looking for somewhere with less snow and moved to the Lowcountry. For the past three years, Dr. Thomas has been serving the community in urgent care and general practice settings where her focus has been on client education and compassionate, quality medicine.

Beyond the confines of the clinic, Dr. Thomas leads an active life with her husband John. An avid traveler, she finds joy in exploring new destinations and experiencing different cultures. When not jet-setting, she can often be found hiking through nature's wonders, immersing herself in the tranquility of the great outdoors.

At home, Dr. Thomas is surrounded by the love and companionship of her three beloved dogs: a playful Golden Retriever and two slobbery Saint Bernards. Together, they enjoy leisurely strolls in the park, playtime in the backyard and relaxation on the couch.
